3. SOURCES OF INFORMATION
During the site reconnaissance phase of the work, some references were made available to the Assessment Team, although few documents in the English language were available for review. Most information available was provided directly by the staff at the refinery in interviews during the site reconnaissance with some follow-up information provided subsequently. No reports were available for review.
Information on the Refinery was obtained from corporate literature “Joint Stock Company – Mozyr Oil Refinery” and the company’s website: http://www.mnpz.by/en/.
Additional sources were used to obtain additional economic information on industrial production and energy consumption in Belarus. These include:
- Energy Information Administration, Official Energy Statistics from the U.S. Government www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/belarus.html.
- CIA World Factbook: www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/bo.html
- Yahoo! Finance – to obtain exchange rate information for US Dollars and Belarus Roubles. (Website: www.yahoo.com)
Valuation of economic damages using monopollutant formula was obtained from Belarussian Economics National Expert. The formula is a derived from recognized Government methodology.
