Proposal for the Startegic Action Plan

Up one level

7. Proposals for the Strategic Action Plan

To resolve the above-mentioned problems it is necessary to take measures to resolve not only problems intrinsic to the fish industry but also a range of issues related to them. The proposals for the SAP may be roughly divided into the following types that require concrete measures:

- Scientific planning and monitoring.

- Legislative initiatives.

- Education.

- Development of business activities.

- Expansion of a network of protected territories

The proposed measures aimed at the conservation and sustainable use of Dnipro Basin biodiversity by the three countries may be represented with regard to their priority rating and degree of compliance with legislative and regulatory acts of the Republic of Belarus, Russian Federation and Ukraine. In addition, it is necessary to make an impartial assessment of investment opportunities for implementing these measures.

High-Priority Long-Term Measures to be Included in the Strategic Action Plan for the Dnipro Basin Environmental Rehabilitation

Remark: (*) – Assessing investment opportunities for implementing the proposed measures appears to be a fairly difficult task in view of the unfavorable investment climate of the three countries.
