5.3.21. 590009 Frunze Machine-Building Plant/Chemical Equipment Manufacture in Sumy

In 1999, the Chemical Equipment Manufacture (CEM) Site of the Frunze Machine-Building Plant discharged 320,000 m3 of wastewater without any treatment. In 1999, the following quantities of major contaminants entered the Psel River with effluent discharges from the CEM Site of the Frunze Machine-Building Plant: BODt (6 tonnes); oil products (0.196 tonne); suspended substances (5 tonnes); sulphates (50 tonnes); chlorides (36 tonnes); and iron (0.165 tonne).

In 2000, the total volume of effluent discharged by the Chemical Equipment Manufacture Site of the Frunze Machine-Building Plant was 257,000 m3 per year. In that year, the following quantities of major contaminants entered the Psel River with these effluent discharges: BODt (11 tonnes); oil products (0.644 tonne); suspended substances (14 tonnes); sulphates (30 tonnes); chlorides (13 tonnes); and iron (0.149 tonne).

The Frunze Machine-Building Plant accounts for 0.004% of the total volume of effluent discharges in the Dnipro Basin.

Major contaminants contributed by the Frunze Machine-Building Plant to the total pollution load are oil products, BOD, and iron.
