Up one level

5.3.5. 530067 Poltava Ore-Enrichment Plant

In 1999, the total volume of effluent discharged by the Poltava Ore-Enrichment Plant was 9,790,000 m3 per year.  This volume of wastewater contained the following quantities of individual contaminants received by the Vorskla River: BODt (67 tonnes); oil products (6.572 tonnes); suspended substances (378 tonnes); dry residue (8,780 tonnes); sulphates (5,470 tonnes); chlorides (6,373 tonnes); ammonium nitrogen (17 tonnes); nitrates (50 tonnes); and iron (1.437 tonne).

In 2000, the Poltava Ore-Enrichment Plant discharged 14,640,000 m3 of wastewater.  This total volume of effluents entered the Vorskla River and contained the following contaminants: BODt (94 tonnes); oil products (11.95 tonnes); suspended substances (708 tonnes); dry residue (19,100 tonnes); sulphates (9,240 tonnes); chlorides (12,370 tonnes); ammonium nitrogen (29 tonnes); nitrates (164 tonnes); and iron (3.45 tonnes).

The estimated contribution of Poltava Ore-Enrichment Plant to the total volume of effluent discharges in the Dnipro Basin is 0.25%.

The following major contaminants are contributed by Poltava Ore-Enrichment Plant to the total pollution load received by surface water bodies in the Dnipro Basin: oil products, sulphates, ammonium nitrogen, chlorides, and iron.
