5.3.11. 530026 Karlovka Machine-Building Plant

In 1999, the total volume of effluent discharged by the Karlovka Machine-Building Plant was 712,000 m3 per year.  The following major contaminants entered the Orel River with effluent discharges from Karlovka Machine-Building Plant: BODt (22 tonnes); oil products (0.071 tonne); suspended substances (22 tonnes); dry residue (152 tonnes); sulphates (53 tonnes); chlorides (98 tonnes); ammonium nitrogen (15 tonnes); nitrates (2 tonnes); surfactants (0.356 tonne); iron (0.335 tonne); copper (0.007 tonne); and nickel (0.005 tonne).

In 2000, Karlovka Machine-Building Plant discharged 712,000 m3 of wastewater.  This annual wastewater volume contained the following quantities of major contaminants: BODt (20 tonnes); oil products (0.029 tonne); suspended substances (21 tonnes); dry residue (1,115 tonnes); sulphates (187 tonnes); chlorides (474 tonnes); ammonium nitrogen (12 tonnes); nitrates (1 tonne); surfactants (0.036 tonne); iron (0.641 tonne); copper (0.007 tonne); and nickel (0.002 tonne).

The Karlovka Machine-Building Plant accounts for 0.012% of the total effluent discharge in the Dnipro Basin.

Priority contaminants contained in the Plant discharges and contributing significantly to surface water pollution are ammonium nitrogen, copper, BOD, and iron.
