Prioritization of Hot Spots According to Certain Categories

9.1. Prioritization of Hot Spots According to Certain Categories

The prioritization of Hot Spots was based on the aggregate scores received in separate categories, in particular: “Water Quality and Human Health”, “Pollution Control”, “Environment and Biodiversity” and “Economic Issues”.

Table 9.1 presents the weighted scores in the category “Water Quality and Human Health”.  The values of weighted scores vary from 2.763 (Retchitsa Vodokanal) to 0.652 (Soligorsk Vodokanal).  In this category, the highest priority are assigned to the following Hot Spots: “Retchitsa Vidikanal”, “Minsk Vodokanal”, “Gomel Vodokanal”, Zhlobinsk Vodokanal” and “Bobruisk Vodokanal”, which were assigned the following scores accordingly: 2.763; 2.51; 2.129; 1.561 and 1.56 (Table 9.1).

In the category of “Pollution Control”, the highest weighted scores were assigned to the following Hot Spots: “Gomel Vodokanal” – 2.322; “Minsk Vodokanal” – 2.255; “Mogilev Vodokanal” – 1.898; “Borisov Vodokanal “- 1.815 and “Retchitsa Vodokanal” – 1.77 (Table 9.2).

In the category “Environment and Biodiversity” weighted scores range from 3.704 (Minsk Vodokanal” to 2.314 (Slutsk Vodokanal”.

The five Hot Spots, which have the most adverse impact on biosphere are as follows: “Minsk Vodokanal” – 3.704; “Gomel Vodokanal” – 3.567; Retchitsa Vodokanal – 3.556; Mozyrsky petroleum refinery – 3.556 and Mogilev Vodokanal – 3.272 (Table 9.3).

In the category “Economic Issues” (Table 9.4), the Hot Spot “Minsk Vodokanal” has the highest score (2.407); “Retchitsa Vodokanal” takes the second place (1.484); “Mogilev Vodokanal” is on the third place (1.009); the next is Svetlogorsk “Khimvolokno” (0.669) and the fifth is “Borisov Vodokanal” (0.609).
