7.1. Sources of Information and Data Quality Control
The section, which examines the impact of the Hot Spots on biodiversity and the environment, was based on official data from government ministries and departments, relevant subordinated institutions of the Republic of Belarus as well as officially publications of reports, maps and reviewed scientific research. Besides, some materials related to specific characteristics of Hot Spots (location of spawning areas and wintering pits, information about rare and endangered species, etc.) were collected in the process of personal communication of the author of the report with oblast and rayon inspectors of environmental authorities, fish and hunting inspectors, as well as in the process of analysis of annual reports, acts and reports available in oblast and rayon state inspections.
In this way reliability of all data used in this section corresponds to the present-day level of information about the Dnipro River basin in the territory of Belarus.
Methods of data collection and handling (e.g., accounting of fish resources) are described in the relevant sections.
