PROJECT AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. Project aim: is to show an example of how industrial loading of a specific enterprise on the environment can be reduced with the help of an environment management system.
The introduction of the ISO 14000 standards at the enterprise will enable its management and personnel to apply the internationally recognized norms and universal approaches to environmental management systems in combination with the environmental management systems that will allow to take a series of steps increasing the efficiency of the enterprise environmental activities.
2. Project objectives are: to create an environmental management system at the Open Joint Stock Company MOZYRSALT (hereinafter referred to as the enterprise) and to prepare it for environmental certification in accordance with the ISO 14001-96 requirements.
Given the specificity of production, the enterprise management may decide to publish an abridged version of the environmental report for a wider promotional use. The publishing of such abridged report may be timed to coincide with such events as the enterprise participation in international trade fairs, exhibitions, press conferences, etc.
The creation of the environmental management system will enable the enterprise to do the following:
- improve environmental situation;
- increase productivity;
- keep up the enterprise good stand on both domestic and international markets;
- meet investors’ requirements;
- raise the enterprise employees’ environmental awareness;
- ensure health protection and work safety at the enterprise;
- build up confidence with consumers and general public.
The enterprise gets a complete set of documents on the environmental management system, recommendations on the methodology of the environmental management system installation at the enterprise and on the use of natural resources by the enterprise; the Training Syllabus for the enterprise employees and the personnel trained in accordance with this Syllabus.
The environmental auditors taking part in the project are interested in using the methodology materials prepared at the enterprise in their practices of introducing environmental management systems in other business entities of the region.
The project was implemented in compliance with the main principles of the environmental management system development as established in ISO 14001 and ISO 14004, and with due regard of the national environmental legislation, regional characteristics and specifics of production.
